Thrilled to be invited, Katie Showers joined the highly
successful team of Rohara Arabians in the early spring of 1998. Graduating Magna
Cum laude with the receipt of the much coveted President's Award, she believes that
her degrees earned in Equine Careers and Industry Management and Business from Salem-Teikyo
University have helped to prepare her for the many aspects of the Arabian industry.
Competence was displayed with the completion of courses such as; Equine Law, Tax
and Finance, Equine Reproduction, and Marketing as well as a wide array of industry
relevant topics which provided her with a strong knowledge base for her emergence
as an equine professional. Skills were hone from an early age when Katie provided
"training services" to her sisters on her parent's breeding farm and were further
developed through college where she not only competed on the IHSA circuit but worked
with various "problem" horses provided by Salem-Teikyo.
Katie has proven herself competitive in many disciplines
with wins in hunter, show hack, country English, side saddle, sport horse (under
saddle and show hack), hunter hack, working hunter right on up to her prestigious
win at the 2004 US Nationals in the incredibly competitive Arabian Western Pleasure
Junior Horse. Winning on the talented and beautiful Vizcaya RA was a dream come
to fruition that was enabled by the help and support of the entire Rohara staff
but John Rannenberg and Roxann Hart especially. Their "go get 'um" attitude is highly
contagious and left little room for self doubt and for this I am extremely grateful.
